READING REVIEW – The Shack
The Shack William P. Young’s The Shack is a compelling book about legend versus religion, which inspires readers to live with a belief in truth, because to believe in something is to at least believe. The book is a heart-wrenching memoir of a parent’s worst nightmare come true, and is masterfully told in a way that refuses to leave the reader with dry eyes. The book tells the story of one man’s courageous journey to return to the shack where his daughter was brutally killed to meet God and face his demons in an effort to achieve the closure he desperately needs. While on his journey, he must confront his internal rage and hatred against a God that would allow such horror to happen to him. Ultimately he does find the answers he needs, and the author masterfully engages the reader throughout the man’s journey for truth.
