SHOPPING : WHERE TO SHOP THIS SEASON
Holiday Shopping in L.A.
What’s your shopping style?
The Grove is the L.A. shopper’s happy place. It features many big named department and boutique stores such as Michael Stars, J. Crew, Victoria’s Secret, Nordstrom and Crate and Barrel, and has a mock downtown feel complete with an electric powered trolley car, which kids love to ride. It’s right next to the Farmer’s Market, which has been there since 1934 and is a perfect spot to grab a bite to eat after a busy day of shopping. The Grove is a favorite shopping destination for kids because it’s outdoors and has Santa’s Cottage where kids and pets can have their photo taken with Santa or enjoy a snowflake show.
Americana at Brand
From the makers of The Grove, Americana at Brand is located in trendy Glendale and, like The Grove, is open-aired but with a more industrial feel. This is L.A.’s newest shopping center with over 75 retail stores such as Ed Hardy, Anthropologie, BCBGMaxazaria, True Religion and Urban Outfitters as well as plenty of places to eat. In celebration of the holiday season, enjoy different events daily such as Holiday Musical Entertainment at the Americana at Brand Kiddie Karoo Christmas.
Abbot Kinney, Venice
Abbot Kinney is the place to go when you want something original. This hip shopping destination in Venice features stores such as Equator Books where you can find rare books and art pieces. Abbot Kinney boasts an assortment of funky clothing boutiques selling everything from baby clothes to vintage t-shirts or surfboards. There are a plethora of great restaurants and the people seem down to earth and genuine — not an easy task in La La Land. Also, you’ll find many one-of-a-kind handmade creations at a variety of truly boutique stores that are perfect if you’re shopping for your favorite artist this holiday season.
Main Street, Santa Monica
Like Abbot Kinney, the Main Street shopping district in Santa Monica has an eclectic assortment of shops and restaurants and is home to many independent retailers. They have a very interesting holiday tradition, which is a Christmas tree made out of shopping carts. It’s a beautifully unique representation and is well worth the visit during the holiday season. From bookstores to cafes to galleries, strolling Main Street is a great way to mix culture with your holiday shopping experience.
The Beverly Center
The Beverly Center is your classic indoor mall filled with many of the big-named retail stores such as Steve Madden, Macy’s, Gucci, Gymboree and H&M. This mall is notoriously enticing for all those who love looking at hot men and women. For the holiday season, The Beverly Center features a rather non-traditional but much better looking Hunky Santa and his entourage of Candy Cane Girls. Moms and dads can leave their tots to play and have their pictures taken with the beautiful people. So for the shoppers that are looking to see and be seen, The Beverly Center is the place to be!
