Montage Beverly Hills
Staying at the Montage puts you in the heart of Beverly Hills and ensconced in luxury. In true Montage fashion, the Beverly Hills location delivers what we’ve come to expect from the Montage name. Whether in Park City, Laguna Beach or Beverly Hills the Montage name means effortless luxury and the knowledge that a staff delivering impeccable service and perfect surroundings await you. The personality of the Beverly Hills location is far more star-studded than the resort locations. Oprah, Gwyneth, Maria have all rested their lovely locks at the Montage. The restaurants, Scarpetta and the Lobby Bar, are magnets for power meals and seriously artisanal cocktail guzzling. Ten Pound — the new exclusive private drinking destination located above Scarpetta is one of a kind. This bar is off the charts and exactly what you would expect for ridiculous excess in the heart of Beverly Hills. It’s a venue that will surely be appreciated by the true cocktail connoisseur.
While Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean architecture dominate the outside of the property in traditional Beverly Hills fashion, the interior is unmistakably clad in classic Hollywood décor. Hand painted mosaic tile, lightly colored stone finishes, and massively plush furniture framed in dark wood and Moroccan prints culminate to give this property an established golden-age feel that far exceeds its 2008 opening date.
In the guestrooms and suites of the Montage you’ll find the same classic elegant Hollywood charm blended with every modern convenience you could dream of. Our modest (for the Montage!) corner suite was equipped with two high-def flat screen LCD TV’s, docking stations to play any personal music device imaginable, and a Control 4 room automation system which, most notably, will open and close the window shades effortlessly with the touch of a bedside button. Marvelous. The bathrooms are doused in luxurious marble and feature an oversized soaking tub large enough for two, separate shower, detached toilet room and of course, dual vanities.
If by any chance you find the tub in your room insufficient for your relaxation needs, your hearts desire simply cannot be unfulfilled at Spa Montage. The two-story, 20,000 sq/ft serene oasis offers a vast menu of services with treatments to revitalize any spa aficionado. With separate men’s/women’s locker rooms featuring Swiss showers, herbal steam rooms, and whirlpools, as well as a breathtaking sky-lit coed mineral pool, 17 treatment rooms including hydrotherapy tubs and couples Vichy showers, losing yourself here for hours is bliss. Guests of Spa Montage also have the privilege of using the mosaic-tiled saline rooftop pool. With unobstructed views from Beverly Hills to the Hollywood sign, it would be criminal to disregard.
As the sun sets on the rooftop, you’ll inevitably find yourself needing to nourish your body after a hard day of relaxation. Luckily, the Montage Beverly Hills has dining options to please any discerning eater, most notably of which, is their signature restaurant, Scarpetta. Having received a nomination for “Best New Restaurant” from the James Beard foundation, Scarpetta’s celebrity executive chef Scott Conant melds together the best of modern and classic Italian cuisine and features the finest of fresh local ingredients. Hint: diners in the know at will ask for a seat at the Chef’s Counter; a truly unique experience which allows up to five guests the opportunity to sit IN Scarpetta’s beautifully decorated kitchen, right beside Chef Conant while he and his team prepare seven courses of the most decadent Italian gastronomy Beverly Hills has to offer.
Just up the stairs from Scarpetta, inconspicuously labeled and hidden behind a dark-wood, $30,000 Lalique crystal-handled door (which can only be opened from inside and will be only if you have a reservation, mind you) rests one of the last true speakeasies of Beverly Hills: Ten Pound. With the most exclusive collection of Macallan Single Malt Scotch in the United States, served in only Lalique crystal glassware, accompanied only with ice spheres made from the very water that the Scotch was distilled from and imported straight from the highlands of Scotland, I can barely begin to describe the level of detail that is infused into every single element of this establishment. One of the last bars to provide true club-style service, after receiving your order the barman will begin stocking his mahogany cart with glassware, any house-made tinctures, bitters, or syrups required to make the cocktail of your choice (or maybe just a $60,000 bottle of 64-year-old vintage Macallan for your party if you so choose) then will wheel over and promptly prepare everything with extravagant presentation right at your table. The level of attention and customer service you receive at Ten Pound is truly unparalleled to anything you’ll ever experience.
If you fancy something a little more lively after sipping on some of the finest Scotch in the world, Parq Bar, right across the hall from Scarpetta, provides an upbeat, social atmosphere with live music featuring local and regional Blues, Jazz, and R&B musicians every night of the week. With a drink menu that highlights modern twists on classic cocktails, and fare ranging from housemade charcuterie to sushi rolls and sashimi, Parq Bar has the perfect ambiance to groove the night away.
Although the aesthetics, design elements, architecture, and amenities of a property are what initially draw our attention, it’s the hospitality and customer service that will keep us coming back. Though other resorts might be able to hold their ground when it comes to appearances, the Montage name simply remains unmatched in hospitality.
